Value Your Relationships

As you might have noticed by now, I love talking about relationships. I put a high value on my relationships with people, both personal and business.

The following affirmation is one of my personal favourites: “I attract people into my life who share my values.”

I value people and I believe that every person I meet or cross paths with, will impact my life in one way or the other.

I have not forgotten that I have promised and stil owe you two blog posts. The reason I have not given you #fitMOMents Part 3 and 4 yet, is because I have been in very exciting discussions with two very special women. These ladies are going to play a significant part in my next two #fitMOMents blogs, bringing you expert advice and information about EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT (ECD) and WEIGHT LOSS AND NUTRITION, respectively. That will be only the start …

These are both women who have, maybe unknowingly, made a huge positive impact on my life over the years and who have been instrumental in shaping my thinking around Early Childhood Development and nutrition. I   value both of them tremendously and will always be grateful to them for being the role models they are and for the positive impact they have made on my life and on society.

It is always exciting to work with people who’s values are aligned with your own and therefore I am looking forward to our association with these phenomenal women.

#fitMOMents Part 3 was supposed to be the article on nutrition and weight Loss but I am changing them around so you will get the Early Childhood Development article first.

The first lady that I would like to introduce to you is Lynda Smith. Lynda has been involved in the education industry for more than 30 years and I first met her when my own children were very young. My mother was working with Lynda on an ECD project and with an educational background myself and coming from a family of teachers, it was not long before I got involved as well.

About two years ago I was looking for a good ECD programme to use with individual children or small groups of kids. I took to Google, stumbled across a South African company, BrainBoosters, and to my surprise found that Lynda was the CEO of the company at the time.

I called Lynda and we had a meeting. I decided to attend the training for the BrainBoosters programme and to learn everything I could about the programme. When Kairo was born I started the programme with her almost immediately and here we are today partnering with BrainBoosters!

Its incredible how different relationships take us on different journeys to experience different moments in time. It’s amazing how we develop a network of different people who at specific moments in time find a common interest and seize the opportunity to make an impact.

Lynda Smith will be our BrainBoosters ECD Contributor on and I will be sharing Kairo’s BrainBoosters journey with you.

“The BrainBoosters program consists of 10 modules for each age group and each module has a parenting and child development theme. The program is for children from birth to six years of age. We have also brought a rich language base in through the Story Boxes. You can start this program at any stage.” – Lynda Smith
