What does Women’s Day, Women’s Month and being a woman in South Africa, mean to me? Why do I celebrate being a woman?
The answer is quite simple … dreams don’t come true by themselves. You need to set goals in order to turn your dreams into reality. I have always had the dream but I have never set a real goal to make my dream come true. Dreams are imaginary and can go on forever … and that’s ok if dreaming is all you want to do.
I know they will watch me like a couple of hawks the first few times I do anything with their new baby … just to make sure my baby skills are up to scratch … (I’ll just pretend that I don’t see them … LOL)
We can’t be afraid of change. We have to step out of our comfort zone and embrace it. Sometimes it means going against what is expected of you by family and society but If you don’t take a leap of faith and trust yourself, you will never know what lies beyond your horizon.
Unconditional love came with the realisation that I had been blessed beyond measure and that God had trusted me with the lives of two human beings … only for a while. I do not own them, they do not belong to me but rather they have been ‘placed in my care’ until they were ready to take care of themselves.
